NEWCASTLE employers will clamour for the services of accountants, engineers, information technology and human resources specialists this year, recruitment forecasts predict.
Hays Newcastle has issued its January quarterly forecast, which predicts the hottest jobs and boom markets for 2008.The recruitment company predicts demand in finance, construction, engineering, administrative services, property and resources sectors.Many fields are crying out for experienced professionals while others, like banking, are seeking entry-level staff.Hays Newcastle director Grahame Doyle said while demand for staff was ongoing, it was particularly evident at this time of year."The new year has arrived, bringing with it the traditional increase in vacancy activity as businesses determine the staff they require for the year ahead," he said."With the first quarter of the year the traditional time that candidates reassess their career, the majority of vacancies are the result of staff departures, although new jobs are still being created due to additional headcount requirements or the restructuring of roles internally."Mr Doyle said there was a definite upswing in permanent vacancies.Good candidates would receive multiple job offers, he said.Hays' forecast report said candidates with sought-after skills for IT roles were often offered a job within hours of the interview.Employers are paying higher salaries to attract strong candidates for telesales positions.THE HOT SPOTS ?
